All Ability Social Night – Review

What an amazing event!!!

Hills Football Association with the help the All Abilities Sub-committee hosted its inaugural All Abilities Social Night.

If success is judged by smiles and laughter we knocked this thing out of the park.

The night was set up to offer our All Abilities community an opportunity to get together in a safe and friendly and non-judgmental environment, for parents to meet parents and players to meet other club players.

Hosted at the North Rocks Football Club Clubhouse, what intended to be a small gathering backed with some music and the ever reliable sausage sizzle….turned into a much more wonderful evening with the presence of Paul Wade our very own ex Socceroo Captain.

Paul volunteered his time on a Saturday night to give the players and family members a talk that will resonate with them for many many years to come…what a wonderful human being!!! The concept of “YET” I cant do it “YET”, I’m not able to….”YET” a simple 3 letter word that drives a very different outcome. Paul shared his experience playing and marking Diego Maradona, his journey to that special home and away series with Argentina and the many opportunities along the way in which Paul could have stopped however the power of “YET” focused him and the rest is history.

What a brilliant message, thanks again Paul for taking the time out and offering all of us a slice of your life and learnings…

Not to be outdone there was a Dad’s sack race, which I didn’t win even with an element of cheating….given my daughter was at the starter gun.

Balls where flying everywhere under light, players and their parents practicing their deft back heels, mothers running around making sure everyone was feed and safe, frisbees circumnavigating Nth Rocks park and of course what is a social night without the Gangnam style being busted out??

We were blessed with great weather, great families and friends, great support from our community and special mention to Steve O’Connor (Hills Football Association) Technical Director and ex-Socceroo as well as Paul Wade.

We will do it all again next year..

Thanks
